The amount of sugar in softdrinks is not advisable for our child's health. As a substitute, we can get them into habit of drinking fresh fruit or vegetable juice, smoothies, or shakes. Preparing the beverages our self ensures that our kids consume only the right kind of ingredients and natural sugars. Mix things up by combining different fruits such as mango, avocado, pineapple, banana, apple, lychee, berries, etc. We can even secretly slip in vegetables such as carrots, kangkong, camote tops, malungay leaves, collards, spinach, kale, etc. to their smoothie (shake or juice).
Here is one of my favorite smoothie recipe to make for my son.
Ingredients:
1 cup of frozen pineapple
1 banana
1 lemon juice
1 handful of spinach and 1 handful of camote tops
2 cups of Tipco carrot juice
(you can use whatever juice you want eg. apple juice, coconut juice, etc.)
blend all together until smooth...
Try this recipe and I assure you that your kids gonna love it too! =)
